Is Texas back? 10K simulations suggest Longhorns won’t win Big 12

Texas Longhorns fans have been waiting for their football team to be “back” for years now. Is the 2020 season finally their time to shine?

PFF College shared results from 10,000 simulations of the 2020 college football season.

The results may or may not surprise you.

Oklahoma, not Texas, has the best chance to win the Big 12

Here’s what the 10,000 simulations of the 2020 season showed for the Big 12. Oklahoma is more than a 2-1 favorite to win the conference over Texas.

This is by no means a damning set of news for Texas. The Longhorns could shock us all and have a spectacularly successful 2020 season.

However, Texas really does seem to be a step behind Oklahoma in the conference. And it has been for years. Lincoln Riley has one of the best offensive systems in college football and continues to bring in quarterbacks that can run it.

That said, looking at the 2021 college football recruiting class, Tom Herman’s Longhorns are ranked much higher. So perhaps Oklahoma’s time atop the Big 12 is coming to an end.

Herman and Co. may have to win in 2020 to see the fruits of their labor, though. The head coach is on the hot seat and needs to see his program improve this coming season to ensure he keeps his job.
