Report: Joe Burrow studied Bengals’ offense ‘for weeks’ ahead of Draft

Bengals QB Joe Burrow during 2020 NFL Draft

The worst-kept secret in the NFL ahead of the Draft was that the Cincinnati Bengals would take Joe Burrow with the first overall pick.

The team has talked up the former LSU star since January, and Burrow’s family already had No. 9 jerseys sent to their house before the draft.

Now comes a new report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter that shows just how much of a sure thing Burrow to the Bengals was.

Schefter reported Saturday before Day 3 of the 2020 NFL Draft that Burrow “has been studying the Bengals’ offense for weeks now, and one source said that he is so far ahead that he will be able to challenge for the starting QB job right away.”

The first part of this report is kind of shocking.

The second part — that Burrow could challenge for the starting job right away — is not. In fact, it would be absolutely stunning if Burrow wasn’t under center when the Bengals open up the 2020 season.
