The Atlanta Falcons have been one of the teams most bandied about in potential trade-up scenarios leading up to the start of the 2020 NFL Draft Thursday night.
It’s not yet known how far the Falcons might be able to trade up from their original first-round spot (16th overall). However, Fox Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer has more information on this.
Glazer is reporting that Atlanta is one of several teams attempting to trade up to the No. 2 spot with the Washington Redskins for edge rusher Chase Young. Thus far, Washington has not shown a willingness to trade that selection.
It would take an absolutely ridiculous haul for Atlanta to address its pass-rush need with Young. We’re talking about its first-round pick this year, first-round pick next year and multiple other top-round selections.
In short, it’s not happening.
The Falcons do need help in this area after former first-round pick Vic Beasley departed in free agency and with fellow former first rounder Takkarist McKinley struggling in that role.
The likelier scenario here is that Atlanta finds a way to move up into the high teens for either a cornerback or another pass rusher.
As of right now, Washington seems locked on Young at No. 2 overall. Nothing short of an absurd trade offer will change that.
