The Philadelphia Eagles reportedly have some interesting plans for second-round pick, quarterback Jalen Hurts, whom they could view as an all-around playmaker.
Mike Garafolo of NFL Network shared Tuesday (via B/R Gridiron) that Hurts could line up behind Carson Wentz as a running back.
This report is interesting because after selecting him 53rd overall the Eagles stressed that Hurts is viewed as a talented quarterback with top passing skills. General manager Howie Roseman did compare Hurts to New Orleans Saints backup Taysom Hill and hinted there could be some plans to use him in that fashion.
However, turning him into a running back is something that could potentially backfire due to the high-impact nature of that position. Personally, I’d very much be against using him in that capacity, especially if the goal is to develop Hurts as a quarterback. And it should be.
The only thing anyone outside the Eagles organization knows for sure about the Hurts experiment is that it will be fascinating to watch unfold.
