There has been chatter since the draft that the New England Patriots could still somehow be in on Cam Newton, but that talk needs to end.
Or at least that’s what Tom E. Curran of NBC Sports Boston is reporting this Tuesday:
“Cam Newton isn’t in the Patriots plans. Wasn’t before the draft. Isn’t going to be after the draft,” Curran wrote. “Have I checked to make sure? Yes I have. Besides, they have like 14 bucks of cap space left (actually, $1.077M, which is 31st in the NFL).”
The Patriots appear to be all aboard the Jarrett Stidham train for the 2020 season. Whether that works out and they make the playoffs or he busts and they tank remains to be seen.
What appears to be set in stone at this time is that Newton will not be taking over for Tom Brady in New England. So, where could he land? The options are dwindling, but we have some ideas.
