Mark Cuban on running for president: ‘I’ll keep an open mind’

Mark Cuban president

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has flirted with running for high office for years now. The billionaire businessman is outspoken on the issues of the day. He’s called out President Donald Trump multiple times and is not afraid to question leaders on the other side of the aisle.

Cuban, 61, is now flirting with a potential independent presidential run in 2020.

“Great question,” Cuban said when asked about a potential POTUS run, via Dallas Basketball. “If this would’ve been a month ago, I would have said absolutely not. But obviously things are crazy, things are changing. So I’ll keep an open mind. But I seriously doubt it.”

Dallas’ owner is obviously talking about the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic plaguing the United States and the rest of the world. He has not been afraid to call out national political leaders during these trying times.

With a net worth of north of $4 billion, Cuban could afford to finance his own campaign without the special interests impacting him. This initially turned some voters on to supporting fellow businessman Mike Bloomberg before he dropped out of the Democratic Presidential race back in March.

As of right now, former Vice President Joe Biden is the overwhelming favorite to go up against President Trump in November’s general election. Of course, that’s if it goes on as planned.

Cuban joining these two in the race could change things up, especially given his popularity in the state of Texas.

It’s something to keep an eye on.
