Dr. Anthony Fauci is a name most of us have become familiar with since the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic started spreading around the United States.
Up until recently, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases has been President Donald Trump’s right-hand man when it comes to addressing the growing virus numbers in this country.
Dr. Fauci will now hold a Q&A session with another familiar face, two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry, on Thursday. The Golden State Warriors’ star made this announcement and asked for fans to present the world-renowned infectious disease expert with questions.
To be clear, this is one weird pairing. Why would Dr. Fauci take time out of his busy day to team up with a basketball player?
It’s rather simple. Curry is among the best-known NBA stars in the world. He has a huge following. If the two can provide answers to much-needed questions from basketball fans, it can’t hurt.
As the NBA season continues to be suspended, we’re now starting to see a ton of players take it upon themselves to help their communities. Curry is obviously the latest example of this.
