As the NBA attempts to wrap its head around a solution to getting the season back on amid the COVID-19 pandemic, a new idea has emerged.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, reporting live from his home on SportsCenter Tuesday, said the NBA is considering using a Las Vegas casino to play at least some regular season games and the playoffs.
“Las Vegas has been a destination that has been discussed, built around the idea of literally perhaps using a casino, playing games in potentially a ballroom with courts. There’s lots of different scenario,” Wojnarowski said.
Wojnarowski made it clear that all the ideas that are being talked about that involve a return any time soon revolve around games being played without fans. Given the latest news coming out of the White House these days, that’s understandable.
The big draw to getting the NBA back right now is television money. With fans craving any form of entertainment, live basketball would be consumed at an incredibly high rate. With that in mind, it’s hardly surprising that the NBA is exploring every option.
