The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are taking care of some business ahead of the official start of NFL free agency. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Tampa Bay has re-signed star edge rusher Jason Pierre-Paul to a two-year, $27 million contract.
The 31-year-old Pierre-Paul played last season under a mere $3 million contract. He ultimately recorded 16 quarterback hits and 8.5 sacks. That came after a 12.5-sack performance back in 2018.
A Pro Bowler stemming from his days with the New York Giants, JPP has rebounded big time from an ugly fireworks accident years back. He’s now being paid like the elite talent he is.
This comes with Tampa having placed the franchise tag on fellow edge rusher Shaq Barrett.
