The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made it official Friday signing Tom Brady to a two-year deal, but Antonio Brown isn’t likely to join him.
Speaking on the situation after Brady inked his contract, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media shared that, while Brady might want to bring Brown with him to Tampa Bay, head coach Bruce Arians has no interest in coaching the receiver again.
“No, there’s definitely some sense that Tom Brady would want to bring Antonio Brown with him,” Rapoport said, per NFL.com. “This from some of the other teams that were potentially in the mix. What really wasn’t a secret Brady and AB have remained close. My understanding is this is not something that Bruce Arians is in favor of. He’s had Antonio Brown before. He had him a couple of years in Pittsburgh. Does not sound like it went well. This does not seem to be like the direction that the Bucs would be going.”
It also helps Tampa Bay that the Bucs have two of the best receivers in the game already on the roster — Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Quite simply, the Buccaneers have no need to risk rocking the boat bringing in a guy who’s been nothing but trouble since the 2018 season.
