Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is the odds-on favorite to earn the NBA Rookie of the Year this season.

Outside of his highlight-reel plays, the No. 2 overall pick has been downright great on a consistent basis. Morant, 20, is averaging 17.7 points and 7.0 assists while shooting 49% from the field.

Morant also has his Grizzlies in playoff contention heading down the stretch. According to the youngster, that’s all he cares about. Go ahead and give Rookie of the Year to Zion Williamson or someone else.

Talk about taking the team-first approach. Memphis has itself a mature young man on its hands.

The Grizzlies head into this week’s action with a 29-31 record and as the eighth seed in the Western Conference.
