Ben Roethlisberger might not need to look like a mountain man for much longer. Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert provided a positive update on Roethlisberger’s recovery from elbow surgery.
Roethlisberger will meet with doctors on Feb. 21 to determine if he is cleared to start throwing. Colbert shared that the Steelers’ medical staff has worked closely with their franchise quarterback and all signs are positive toward a full recovery for the 2020 season.
The 37-year-old underwent an unspecified surgery in September after playing through significant pain in his elbow to begin the 2019 season. While there was initial speculation about potential retirement, he immediately shot down the rumors and made it clear he would play next season.
Roethlisberger stopped shaving after the surgery, vowing that he would let his beard grow until he could throw a football again. While many NFL fans have loved the wild, backwoods look, it appears will only be able to enjoy it for a few more weeks.
