It sure looks like the struggling Philadelphia 76er will be without All-Star point guard Ben Simmons for a substantial amount of time.
Simmons suffered a lower-back injury early in Saturday night’s blowout loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.
After going through tests over the past two days, it’s being reported that Simmons suffered nerve impingement to the lower back. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, he will be evaluated again in two weeks.
This is basically a pinched nerve.
Boasting a pedestrian 36-22 record on the season, Philadelphia can’t afford for this to be a long-term injury. The team is already on the ropes.
Simmons, 23, is averaging 16.7 points, 7.8 rebounds and 8.2 assists on the season.
