Elton Brand won’t commit to Brett Brown remaining 76ers coach the rest of season

Brett Brown 76ers coach

Brett Brown and the Philadelphia 76ers have won just five of their last 10 games and are on a four-game losing streak that has them in sixth place in the Eastern Conference.

On Friday, general manager Elton Brand discussed the state of the franchise with reporters. During which, Brand said he believes in Brown to lead the 76ers but would not commit to keeping the head coach for the remainder of the season.

That’s what we call a political response from Brand. He’s not ready to start from scratch yet, but by hedging there he’s sending a message that things have to get better quick, or else.

Certainly, Brown deserves some of the blame for the way Philly has failed to live up to expectations this year. However, it’s a major factor that this team doesn’t have consistent shooters, and that is the responsibility of Brand as the general manager.

There is still time for the 76ers to turn things around and become a formidable force in the East. But if that doesn’t happen soon, it sure sounds like Brown could be looking for work.
