Jason Garrett, whose contract as the Dallas Cowboys head coach recently ended, is reportedly in New York to interview for the Giants’ offensive coordinator position.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Garrett arrived at the Giants’ team facilities on Wednesday morning. He will interview with head coach Joe Judge for the open coordinator position on the staff.
The Giants requested permission from Dallas to interview Garrett after hiring Judge. Now that Garrett’s contract has expired, though, New York can speak to him freely without permission.
In 10 seasons with the Cowboys, Garrett posted an 85-67 with three playoff appearances. He could be a quality add to New York’s coaching staff and provide Judge with an experienced coach that can help him learn the ropes of the job.
Judge is also reportedly interested in former Cleveland Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens. However, unlike Garrett, Kitchens might be targeted for a spot on the offensive staff rather than as the offensive coordinator.
