White Sox news: Team signs All-Star P Gio Gonzalez

General manager Rick Hahn and the Chicago White Sox have done everything possible to turn the corner this winter and show that the rebuild is over.

That now includes Chicago reportedly signing two-time All-Star pitcher Gio Gonzalez.

A mainstay in the rotation for the Oakland A’s and Washington Nationals earlier in his career, the 34-year-old Gonzalez will help fill out the Sox’ rotation.

He pitched to a 3-2 record with a 3.50 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in 19 appearances (17 starts) for the Milwaukee Brewers last season. That came on the heels of Gonzalez putting up an average of 13 wins with a solid 3.49 ERA in his previous nine seasons.

Chicago already added power hitters Yasmani Grandal and Nomar Mazara to round out its lineup earlier this winter. In Gonzalez, they get someone who could be a consistent force in the rotation.
