The Seattle Seahawks, still smarting from their stunning loss to the Arizona Cardinals Sunday, shared more bad news on the injury front after the game. Head coach Pete Carroll told reporters that starting left tackle Duane Brown needs knee surgery and will be out Sunday night in Week 17, along with starting running back Chris Carson and backup running back C.J. Prosise.
Both Carson and Prosise are out for the season.
The game, in Seattle, is going to determine the NFC West, and if the 49ers win they’ll claim the No. 1 seed in the NFC as well. Not surprisingly, it was flexed to “Sunday Night Football” to close out the regular season.
Given the way San Francisco’s defense came up so big the last time these two teams played, with Duane Brown starting that entire game no less, this is awful news for the Seahawks.
The offense was stymied in a big way Sunday against the Cardinals, and the 49ers feature a more formidable defensive front than Arizona does, to be sure. It’s going to be fascinating to see if Russell Wilson has any more magic left. If the Seahawks win on Sunday night, it’ll likely have a lot to do with the quarterback.
