Potential No. 1 overall pick James Wiseman announced he is leaving Memphis, will sign with an agent and prepare for the 2020 NBA Draft.
The 18-year-old shared this news via his Instagram account, noting, “This was not how I expected my freshman season to be, but I’m thankful for everyone who has supported my family and me throughout this process.”
Wiseman has been out of commission due to an NCAA suspension since Nov. 12. He appeared in just three games for Memphis this season due to his previous relationship with Tigers head coach Penny Hardaway, who helped Wiseman and his family move while he was still in high school.
In three games played this season for Memphis, Wiseman averaged 19.7 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.
