Angels news: Team signs All-Star P Julio Teheran

Angels sign Julio Teheran

The Los Angeles Angels continue with what has been a busy winter for the team.

Fresh off making the splash of the offseason in signing NL MVP finalist Anthony Rendon, the Angels have added another All-Star from the NL East.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, Los Angeles has signed two-time All-Star starting pitcher Julio Teheran away from the Atlanta Braves.

This is a darn solid under-the-radar move for general manager Billy Eppler and Co.

Boasting some elite stuff, the 28-year-old Teheran earned All-Star nods with the Braves in 2014 and 2016. He fell out of favor in Atlanta this past season, initially being left off the Braves’ playoff roster.

Even then, Teheran‘s track record is solid. He pitched to a 10-11 record with a 3.81 ERA and 1.32 WHIP this past season. The veteran’s best performance came back in 2014 when he posted a 2.89 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 221 innings.

This move adds another veteran to a revamped Angels rotation. Earlier in the winter, Los Angeles picked up Dylan Bundy in a trade with the Baltimore Orioles.
