Angels reportedly sign MVP finalist Anthony Rendon

Angels sign Anthony Rendon

The Los Angeles Angels have pulled off that one blockbuster they have been looking to finalize all winter.

According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, Los Angeles has signed reigning NL MVP finalist Anthony Rendon to a seven-year, $245 million contract.

This is an absolute coup for general manager Billy Eppler and Co. Rendon, 29, is one of the best all-around players in the game.

Last season for champion Washington Nationals proved this to a T. The third baseman hit .319 with 34 homers, 126 RBI and a 1.010 OPS. He also posted a .412 on-base percentage and led the NL with 44 doubles.

Rendon should provide Mike Trout with the protection he needs in the lineup. And while starting pitching remains a major need, this is a nice first step for the long-downtrodden Angels.
