Despite what’s been a brutal season offensively for Joe Flacco and the Denver Broncos, head coach Vic Fangio isn’t ready to bench the veteran.
Rookie Drew Lock, drafted in the second round this past April, will begin practicing next week, but has to remain on injured reserve for eight weeks.
So, while Flacco will remain under center at least one more week, it won’t be surprising if the Broncos end up going with the rookie the rest of the way in 2019 if Lock is ready to play.
Flacco had an awful night against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday Night Football, thanks to a brutal performance by his offensive line, which couples very poorly with his inability to evade pressure with his legs.
So far this season, he’s completing 65.7% of his passes while averaging 235 yards per game. He has six touchdowns and five interceptions in seven starts, during which time the Broncos have gone 2-5.
