In a moment when the BYU Cougars needed a hero, sophomore quarterback Zach Wilson came through on an insane two-play sequence for the go-ahead touchdown.
It started with some Houdini magic as the USC Trojans brought heavy pressure up the middle. Rather than crumble under it, Wilson evaded it all and split two pass rushers before launching a dime to put the Cougars in the red zone.
Wilson wasn’t done with the dramatics either. On the second play after his remarkable throw, he humiliated the Trojans’ defense again. He put the team on his back with a sprint up the middle before splitting between four defenders then diving into the end zone for the go-ahead touchdown.
Wilson showed this same clutch gene in BYU’s stunning upset on the road over Tennessee. Now he’s bringing it back on an even bigger stage and putting the Cougars in position for another huge upset.
