Report: Dolphins grant star DB Minkah Fitzpatrick permission to seek a trade

The Miami Dolphins are in full-scale tank mode after a 59-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1. It led to suggestions that multiple players have requested a trade following the humiliating defeat.

According to this report from ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, Miami has now granted second-year defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick permission to seek a trade.

This one comes completely out of left field. We know the Dolphins are building for the future. If that’s the case, why not hold on to a 22-year-old defensive back you just selected No. 11 overall in the 2018 NFL Draft?

Then again, the Alabama product might simply want out of dodge. He’s been switching between cornerback and safety in his year-plus in the NFL. Rumors have it that Fitzpatrick is not happy about the way Miami is using him.

The stud defender has recorded 85 tackles, nine passes defended, two interceptions and a touchdown in 17 career games.
