Nearly four months after he last took the mound, Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow is now scheduled to rejoin the team on Sunday and make his first start since May.
Tampa Bay’s skipper Kevin Cash announced on Friday that Glasnow will be activated off the injured list on Sunday and cover the first two-to-three innings against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Glasnow last played for the Rays on May 10 when he started against the New York Yankees. Before suffering a forearm strain and experiencing multiple setbacks, he recorded a 1.86 ERA and 0.91 WHIP across 48.1 innings.
While he’ll be limited to shorter appearances, Glasnow’s return is a huge addition for Tampa Bay. He was a Cy Young candidate early in the season and would add an impact arm to the pitching staff for the postseason hunt.
