Jay Gruden not ready to name starting QB for Week 5 against Patriots

The Washington Redskins are facing quite the test in Week 5 as they host the New England Patriots, but at this point it’s unclear who their starting quarterback will be.

Jay Gruden spoke with reporters Monday and made it clear he isn’t ready to name any of his three quarterbacks the starter.

Case Keenum dealt with a foot injury last week during practice but started in Week 4 against the New York Giants. After throwing an interception early, he was benched in favor of rookie Dwayne Haskins. Unfortunately, the No. 15 overall pick threw three interceptions, including a pick-six, and had an awful game overall.

Colt McCoy is someone Gruden hinted before the season could be his go-to guy once he healed up from the broken leg that required multiple offseason surgeries.

Given the way New England’s defense has played so far this year, it may not be wise to throw Haskins out there to the wolves once again.

Regardless, it seems Washington is up a creek without a paddle at the quarterback position right now. And at 0-4 to start the season, it’s looking like Gruden will soon be a former Washington head coach.
