Colts reportedly closing in on extension with QB Jacoby Brissett

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett was set to enter the final year of his rookie contract after replacing the recently retired Andrew Luck as the team’s starting quarterback.

That’s no longer going to be the case. According to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe, Indianapolis is closing in on an extension with the signal caller.

It’s not yet known what said extension will look like from a financial perspective. Though, Brissett can expect a big raise from his base salary of $2 million this season.

Acquired from the New England Patriots ahead of the 2017 season, the former third-round pick started in Luck’s stead that year. Brissett finished with 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions en route to leading Indy to a 4-11 record in 15 starts.

The Colts continue to be bullish on Brissett heading into the season. This extension would magnify that further.
