This weekend is expected to be a big one for Florida’s college football teams. That’s normally the case on an annual basis in late August and early September as the CFB season kicks off.
But as we seen numerous times over the past few years, hurricane season could get in the way. It’s no different this year with Hurricane Dorian slated to make landfall as a category three in Florida this coming weekend.
Accordingly, plans are in place to potentially move up the start of Florida State’s season opener against Boise State. It could also be moved from Jacksonville to the Seminoles’ home stadium in Tallahassee.
It goes without saying that football takes a back seat here. It’s all about public safety.
The hurricane’s current path has it swamping Florida and other parts of the coast.
The hope here is that it still misses a direct hit. But for now, football games in Florida and that region might have to see their start times changed or postponed altogether.
