The Jacksonville Jaguars have been in camp for just under a week and pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue remains away as he holds out for a contract extension.
On Monday, Ngakoue took to Twitter with a few cryptic tweets that could indicate things aren’t going swell on the contract negotiating front.
It seems like Ngakoue doesn’t feel valued, which was the initial indication after a report emerged concerning what the Jaguars offered him initially on an extension.
Since the start of the 2016 season, the 24-year-old former third-round pick out of Maryland has racked up 29 sacks and 10 forced fumbles. He’s a force to be reckoned with on the edge, to be sure.
Whether that leads to the kind of extension he’s looking for this summer remains to be seen. Without a new deal, Ngakoue is set to earn just over $2 million in base pay for the 2019 season.
