The All-Star Break provides many players the opportunity to relax and let their body heals, which is exactly what New York Yankees first baseman Luke Voit needed to get healthy.
Now with the ASB over, the Yankees expect to activate Voit off the 10-day injured list on Saturday and welcome him back to the team’s lineup.
Voit landed on the IL after he suffered an abdominal strain during New York’s two-game series against the Boston Red Sox in London. The Yankees exercised plenty of caution bringing him back and now could soon have one of their best hitters rejoin the lineup.
The 28-year-old slugger is in the midst of a breakout season with 17 home runs, 14 doubles and a .902 OPS across 293 at-bats this year. During critical stretches without Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, Voit stepped up as an excellent power hitter and will be a key piece for the club in the second half.
