Ravens first-round pick Marquise Brown to open camp on non-football injury list, per report

The Baltimore Ravens took a gamble selecting Marquise Brown with the 25th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, due to his startling lack of size and a foot injury. Now, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, it looks like that injury is going to continue being a problem.

Brown, along with Jaylon Ferguson, Daylon Mack, and Jaylen Smith, are starting the season on the non-football injury list.

None of these four will count against the active roster at this time.

What’s particularly troubling about Brown is that there was hope he would be ready for camp. The speedy receiver underwent Lisfranc surgery back in February, which seemed to give him plenty of time to heal up for training camp.

Foot injuries are notoriously tricky, and at this point the Ravens have to be just begging the football gods to have mercy. If Brown’s injury continues to be a problem in mid-August, then it will likely result in him having a significantly diminished role on Baltimore’s offense as a rookie.
