Former Yankees manager Joe Girardi interested in Giants job

Joe Girardi New York Yankees

Joe Girardi is the last manager to lead the New York Yankees to a World Series title. He did it in just his second season in that role back in 2009.

Having been ousted from his role in New York following the 2017 season, Girardi said on 95.7 The Game in the Bay Area on Thursday that he would like to manage again.

More than that, Girardi indicated that he is interested in the soon-to-be vacant San Francisco Giants managerial job.

Give it a listen.

This represents some pretty big news for the Giants and other teams around MLB.

San Francisco will see all-time great Bruce Bochy retire after its season comes to a conclusion. Replacing the multi-time World Series champ with someone of Girardi’s ability would be big.

The Yankees were 200 games over .500 during Girardi’s 10-year stint as their manager, making the playoffs six times.
