A little more than a week after returning to the New York Yankees, star outfielder Giancarlo Stanton is set to be placed on the injured list once again.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone announced following Wednesday’s win over the Toronto Blue Jays that Stanton has suffered a strain to his PCL and will be placed on the IL.
Lesser known than the ACL, this is a potentially serious injury. Depending on the level of strain, Stanton could be looking at a long-term absence.
The former NL MVP missed all of April and May to injury before returning to the Yankees on June 18.
This is the latest setback in an injury-plagued season that has seen Stanton hit just one homer with seven RBI in 31 at-bats.
