Warriors could land D’Angelo Russell in Kevin Durant sign-and-trade?

Kevin Durant is headed to play for the Brooklyn Nets, per multiple NBA insiders. But with that, there’s a chance that D’Angelo Russell could be headed out west to play for the Golden State Warriors.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, on live television following the Durant news, floated the possibility that the Nets could land Durant in a sign-and-trade that also sends Russell to San Francisco.

Now that’s a juicy component to what is already one of the biggest NBA stories going on this offseason.

If such a scenario did play out, then the Warriors would all of a sudden have to be considered title contenders, even without Klay Thompson (for most of the coming season) and Durant. Teaming Russell up with Stephen Curry would give Golden State a seriously potent backcourt that could compete with any the NBA has to offer on a nightly basis.
