Despite what Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey might tell us publicly, it sure looks like the team will be moving on from future Hall of Fame guard Chris Paul.
We’ve read the reports that Paul and James Harden don’t necessarily get a long. We’ve already read the reports that Houston is looking to blow up its supporting cast behind Mr. Harden.
Now comes this report from Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo! Sports suggesting that the relationship between Harden and Paul is beyond repair.
“The delicate relationship between Houston Rockets stars James Harden and Chris Paul has been termed “unsalvageable” and the star players want a divorce,” Goodwill reported Tuesday. “Paul went to Rockets management and demanded a trade, and Harden issued a ‘him or me’ edict following the Rockets’ second-round loss to the Golden State Warriors, sources said.
That certainly is some rather interesting stuff. Houston has been attempting to play the PR game since its second-round loss to the Warriors. But it has become clear that the team is looking to make some drastic changes.
This will now likely include the Rockets attempting to trade an aging veteran who is set to earn a combined $124-plus million over the next three seasons.
Good luck with that.
