The Golden State Warriors and head coach Steve Kerr announced on Tuesday that star forward Kevin Durant (calf) will once again be sidelined for Game 3 of the NBA Finals.
Durant has been on the bench since suffering said calf injury back in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals against Houston.
Though, there’s some good news here. Kerr also added that Durant will get a practice in on Tuesday.
This is a clear indication that Durant could play Game 4 Friday evening against the Raptors. The Warriors had previously noted that Durant will need to get at least one practice in before returning to game action.
The two-time reigning NBA Finals MVP was averaging a ridiculous 34.2 points per game in the playoffs before going down to injury. Since then, Stephen Curry has carried the load. He’s averaging 33.7 points in the seven games since Durant went down.
Kerr also noted that Kevon Looney is out for Game 3 (and the remainder of the series) while Andre Iguodala is playing and Klay Thompson (hamstring) remains questionable.
