The Miami Heat are on the verge of adding one of the best free agents on the market.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Miami is finalizing a sign-and-trade with the Philadelphia 76ers for star wing Jimmy Butler.
This is an absolutely huge move for the Heat and president Pat Riley. In return, Philadelphia will receive a package surrounding youngster Josh Richardson.
Miami did not have the cap room to sign Butler outright. It was also bidding against the Houston Rockets for the All-Star’s services.
Butler, 29, averaged 18.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.9 steals between the Wolves and Sixers last season. He now heads to South Beach to be the face of the Heat following Dwyane Wade’s retirement.
