Tyronn Lue nearing deal to become Lakers’ next head coach, per report

It’s now almost a foregone conclusion that Tyronn Lue will reunite with LeBron James. Long considered the odds-on favorite to replace Luke Walton as the Los Angeles Lakers’ head coach, the two sides are reportedly nearing a deal.

“The Los Angeles Lakers and Tyronn Lue are in the process of working on a contract agreement that would make Lue the franchise’s next head coach,” Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports reported Monday evening.

This past weekend saw Lue celebrate his 42nd birthday in Vegas with Lakers cake. That seemed to be a harbinger of things to come.

A former reserve player with the Lakers, Lue earned two championships with the team. He led Cleveland to the NBA Finals twice in parts of four seasons as the team’s head coach.
