Report: Lakers, Ty Lue reach ‘impasse without a deal’

It’s been widely reported that the Los Angeles Lakers and Ty Lue were set to agree to a deal that would make him the next head coach, but negotiations have hit a snag.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, “Negotiations between the Los Angeles Lakers and Ty Lue have reached an impasse without a deal to make him the franchise’s next head coach.”

Based on what Wojnarowski reported, it also seems Jason Kidd might be back on the table.

Lue himself seemed to be of the mind that a deal with Los Angeles was nothing more than an eventuality over the weekend. Clearly, things have changed.

This doesn’t mean a deal cannot be worked out in the future, but it definitely signals the two sides are not seeing eye-to-eye.

It’s going to be fascinating to see what comes of this latest news. Will the Lakers move on altogether, or will they continue to try and work out a deal with Lue?
