The Los Angeles Lakers found themselves in a great position during Tuesday night’s NBA Draft lottery.
LeBron James’ squad acquired the No. 4 overall pick in the draft. With that comes a real possibility that the long anticipated trade of Anthony Davis to Southern California could come to fruition.
Not so fast. According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst (h/t Bleacher Report), the Pelicans still have no interest in trading Davis to the Lakers.
We knew that former Pelicans general manager Dell Demps had no interest in dealing the Los Angeles during February’s trade deadline. This new report is rather interesting in that David Griffin is now running the show in New Orleans with Lakers president Magic Johnson having just recently resigned.
Los Angeles seemingly has the assets to make a trade work. That includes youngsters Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball. All three were on the block back in February.
Add in the No. 4 overall pick in the draft, and we’re not sure why New Orleans would push back against sending AD to Southern California.
New Orleans shockingly obtained the No. 1 pick in the draft. It will more than likely lead to Zion Williamson heading to the Bayou.
A solid package from the Lakers, their fourth overall pick included, would set New Orleans up well down the road.
