The Carolina Panthers have added another weapon to the passing game for Cam Newton. The team announced on Friday that it has signed veteran wide receiver Chris Hogan, formerly of the New England Patriots.
Hogan, 30, has been a fixture in New England over the past three seasons, catching a combined 107 passes for 1,651 yards and 12 touchdowns during that span.
This is a solid move for a Panthers squad that’s relying on youngsters D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel at wide receiver.
Hogan likely won’t start, but he could ultimately end up as the Panthers’ top slot receiver. It’s an area that struggled last season with running back Christian McCaffrey forced out to the slot at times.
