The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are reportedly “actively shopping” wide receiver DeSean Jackson, who has the Philadelphia Eagles on his mind.
Jenna Laine of ESPN reported Sunday night that the Eagles are “expected to have mutual interest in Jackson.” She also reports that some teams believe the Buccaneers will end up releasing Jackson, rather than trading him.
This is in contrast to what head coach Bruce Arians was hoping for shortly after he was signed.
Jackson’s 2018 campaign was underwhelming, to say the least. He caught just 41 passes for 744 yards and four touchdowns and was particularly frustrated when playing alongside Jameis Winston.
He still has one year remaining on the three-year contract he signed in free agency with Tampa Bay. Jackson is due to make $10 million in 2019, however none of his remaining money is guaranteed.
Jackson had plenty of success in Philadelphia, which drafted him in the second round back in 2008 out of Cal. He caught 356 passes for 6,117 yards and 32 touchdowns in six seasons with the Eagles before landing in Washington.
The Eagles could certainly use the talent outside at receiver. The question remains, however: Does Jackson, 32, have his top game still or is he a fading star?
