Oops: Gary Sanchez does bat flip … on routine fly ball

Gary Sanchez coronavirus

If you want to bat flip, go for it. Just be sure it’s a home run. Otherwise, it looks ridiculous. Just ask New York Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez.

In the third inning of his Opening Day game with the Baltimore Orioles, Sanchez launched a fly ball to left field. His reaction told us that the ball was gone. It was not.

It would have been one thing if this hit off the wall. At least it would have been a hit and an RBI for Sanchez. But it landed harmlessly in the glove of Dwight Smith Jr. and wasn’t even that close to a home run.

Poor Sanchez. Score one for the unwritten rules, we suppose.
