The official announcement won’t come until 6 p.m. ET, but Ed Reed appears to be a shoo-in Hall of Famer based on how long his career was debated Saturday.

Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area shared on Twitter following the Hall of Fame selection meeting that the discussion for Ed Reed’s candidacy took just 140 seconds.

Really, this is a no-brainer. Reed is not only one of the greatest players of his generation (at any position) but was also one of the best players to ever take the field in an NFL game.

Over the course of his 12-year career, Reed racked up 643 tackles, 64 interceptions (seven of which were pick-sixes), six sacks, and 11 forced fumbles. One of the greatest ball-hawks to ever live, he had nine interceptions in 15 career postseason games.

Reed also won a Super Bowl, was named to nine Pro-Bowl teams, was the 2004 Defensive Player of the Year, and was voted to five First-team All-Pro squads during his legendary career.
