Report: Jay Gruden told he is returning as Redskins HC in 2019

The Washington Redskins aren’t looking to move on from the Jay Gruden era just yet, as the coach has reportedly been informed he’ll be back in 2019.

Gruden has been in the middle of turmoil practically since he started. The Kirk Cousins era was mired in controversy, and this past year Washington made several controversial decisions, including signing linebacker Reuben Foster after he was arrested for yet another incident with his sometimes ex-girlfriend.

The writing was on the wall that Gruden would be back when the team cut safety D.J. Swearinger for criticizing Gruden and his staff over lax practice habits, among other things.

Washington has been to the playoffs just once in Gruden’s five years at the helm. In that game, Washington lost in the Wild Card round back in 2015. His record in five season with the Redskins is 35-44-1.
