Sunday did not go too swimmingly for Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Bay Area.
Taking on the two-win Oakland Raiders, Pittsburgh found itself in a game throughout. For his part, Big Ben missed some time with a rib injury. But when he returned to the action, the Steelers couldn’t do enough to fend off the upset.
Raiders quarterback Derek Carr hit backup tight end Derek Carrier on a six-yard touchdown on fourth down with just 21 seconds remaining to give Oakland a 24-21 lead.
4th and goal.
Ballgame on the line.

Pittsburgh then seemed to put Chris Boswell in position for a game-winning field goal following this desperation play from JuJu Smith-Shuster and rookie James Washington.

Unfortunately for the Steelers, Boswell slipped on a 40-yard field goal attempt to send the Steelers to their third consecutive loss.

Defense, place kicker, coaching, clock management and overall lack of urgency after losing 2 in a row (now 3 in a row)…much blame to go around #Steelers pic.twitter.com/vUos7gjQ2w

.@steelers’s leadership has taken a very talented team (which could have been more talented) and a great franchise and turned it this year into a dumpster fire. Only the ineptitude of the division can allow them to make the playoffs, where they are almost certain to get crushed.
