Washington Redskins safety Montae Nicholson was arrested on Tuesday morning and charged with assault and battery and public intoxication.
According to police, the incident began after Nicholson and a women “pulled up in a vehicle and honked the horn” at a man and women. The woman who was with Nicholson was identified as 24-year-old Sydney A. Maggiore of Vienna, Va.

The Redskins have issued a statement on the matter.
“We are aware of the arrest of Montae Nicholson. We are gathering more information and will not comment until we have further details,” per Redskins vice president of public relations Tony Wyllie.

A fourth-round pick out of Michigan State in 2017, Nicholson started seven games for Washington this year and appeared in all 14, tallying 21 solo tackles.
