The long-awaited blockbuster deal that sent All-Star infielder Robinson Cano and stud closer Edwin Diaz from the Seattle Mariners to the New York Mets was officially completed on Monday.
New York shocked pretty much the entire baseball world by making a win-now move. Meanwhile, the Mariners are in the midst of a fire sale that is rivaled by very few in the history of the game.
Following the trade becoming official, New York decided to troll the Mariners on Twitter in the best possible way. The team’s official account posted a screen cap from two-plus years back of a fan asking for Cano to be traded from the Mariners to the Mets. It included a photoshop of Cano in a Mets jersey.
The caption? “Woah.”

This is next-level amazing from whoever is running the Mets’ Twitter account. At the time of the original post by a man named Phillip, Cano was in the midst of a 2016 season in which he hit 39 homers with 103 RBI en route to finishing in the top 10 of the AL MVP voting.
Things have changed for the eight-time All-Star since. But it’s readily apparent that the Mets are happy to have him aboard.
