The Washington Redskins lost quarterback Colt McCoy to a broken fibula during Monday night’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
He’s the second Redskins quarterback to go down with a season-ending injury — joining starter Alex Smith.
In an interesting turn, veteran Mark Sanchez will likely be the starter for the remainder of the season. This also means Washington will have to bring in another veteran quarterback in free agency.
Obviously, the media’s focus will turn to Super Bowl signal caller Colin Kaepernick. He’s been unemployed since the 2016 season after starting the now infamous national anthem protests around the league.
As unrealistic as it might be for Washington to sign Kaepernick, it’s equally ridiculous to ignore the possibility. After all, this is a team that just recently claimed Reuben Foster off waivers. How in the world could the optics surrounding a Kaepernick signing compare to that?
Well, Twitter wants to have a word with you. Here, fans are clamoring for Washington to bite the bullet and sign the embattled Kaepernick.

Man, it’s a bummer that Colt McCoy is out for the season.
Hey @Redskins now would be as good a time as ever to call Mr. Kaepernick

Colt McCoy out??! More calcium for these QBs. Colin Kaepernick, pack a bag…. #PHIvsWAS #MNF #HTTR

McCoy to IR with a fractured fibula too. Look forward to the explanations about why #Kaepernick is less helpful than Matt Moore or whoever. Almost justifiable when you're looking for a strict backup, but the #Redskins need a starter now. Nobody wants the Sanchez era.

You can’t tell me that Colt McCoy and Mark Sanchez are better QBs than Colin Kaepernick. #mnf

So if McCoy is down can we please just sign kaepernick. Might as well keep playing the bad boy card with all these other signings. Please and thank you #httr

Colt McCoy’s season is over per Lisa Salters on TV. Will the #Redskins call Kaepernick now? Probably will get Ol’ Nate Peterman in there for a tryout.

Mark Sanchez has replaced Colt McCoy on #MNF…that is a thing that actually happened in 2018. BUT…Colin Kaepernick isn't good enough to play in the #NFL?
— Craig Gordon (@dakidder) December 4, 2018
I don’t know what Colt McCoy’s injury isnor how long he’ll be out,but this would be the perfect time and opportunity for the @nfl and the @Redskins to offer Colin Kaepernick and opportunity to play. He’s clearly far more qualified than most of the other options. Prove no collusion

Awful break for Colt McCoy.
If the Redskins legit care about making the playoffs, they’ll work out Colin Kaepernick tomorrow.
There, I said it.
