John Harbaugh ‘hopeful’ Joe Flacco (hip) can play in Week 11

The Baltimore Ravens might have to take on the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 11 without starting quarterback Joe Flacco, who is dealing with a hip injury.

However, on Monday head coach John Harbaugh addressed his quarterback’s injury, noting he’s “hopeful” that Flacco can play. He explained that Flacco was injured on the first drive of the team’s Week 9 game before the bye and that the team would know more about his status as the week progresses.

If Flacco cannot play, then it would be fascinating to see whether the Ravens decided to throw rookie Lamar Jackson into the starting lineup, or if they turned to veteran Robert Griffin III.

Baltimore desperately needs a win after dropping three straight and four of its last five games. Currently in third place in the AFC North with a record of 4-5, this team is in danger of missing the playoffs, especially with Pittsburgh surging ahead.

Flacco has been very shaky the past five games, throwing just four touchdowns and four interceptions. However, before news of his injury emerged, Harbaugh had been clear he’s not ready to bench the veteran. Regardless of who plays under center, the Ravens need better play from the quarterback position going forward.
