Just one day after being reinstated by the University of Maryland, head football coach DJ Durkin appears to be out of a job.
According to this report from Rick Maese of the Washington Post, Maryland’s brass has stunningly done an about-face and will fire Durkin.

The optics were never good for this university. Immediately after announcing that Durkin would be reinstated, student body leaders in College Park announced they were pushing for the head coach to be fired. His initial reinstatement was met with opposition by the public and some players on the team.
Durkin had been on administrative leave since August as the university investigated the death of former Maryland offensive lineman Jordan McNair following a workout in May.
Updates will come after more information becomes available.
